Turkey Day Revisited
We made a thanksgiving meal - grilled turkey brest, homemade cranberry sauce & chestnut stuffing, & brussel sprouts on Friday eve, after going to the museum of science - which was packed. I woke up with a fever on Sunday, so we laid low, and Dan took care of both me and Calvin. What a great nurse. I woke up today feeling much better.

Turkey Day Unplugged
Well, we planned to go to CT for Thanksgiving, but when we got the call saying they already had 4 inches of snow, we decided it would be better to stay in Boston out of the snowy traffic. Dan ran out to scrounge up a turkey with no success. Massachusetts Blue laws mandated that all the grocery stores close for the day. Wow, aren't we puritans. Instead we went for a nice walk, played video games, and then out for a Chinese thanksgiving in China Town.

Are we nuts?
Last night we babysat for a friends daughter, 5 month old girl named Ella. Of course while Ella cried, so did Cal. When Ella needed to feed, so did Cal. When Ella needed a diaper change - boy did Cal! We actually didn't do half bad. By 9:15 we had both babies sleeping. Whew! When our friends picked Ella up, we reminded them that payback will be coming to them - and they reminded us not until Cal can take a bottle ;-)

More toys
Adam and Bruno came to visit this morning and we went to lunch at Strip-T's. We also got these great photos. Finally an updated family shot, and then one of the boys. We went to Babies R US & Target today to pick up the Britax Roundabout Car Seat for Dan's car. The britax should last us until he is five. Gotta run, Cal woke up.
Calvin's Lucky Cousins
Risa and Ed's special delivery
Cousin Max
Calvin is going to have a large & loving playgroup! My sister and bro Risa and Ed - Cal's Aunt and Uncle, are expecting! Cousin's David and Debbie welcomed Cousin Max 10/5/05. And Cousin's Ellen and Mark are expecting the arrival of baby Georgia towards the beginning of 2006. He is going to be the leader of the pack - or at least the eldest of the pack. I can't wait to see them all crawling around.

Daddy Time
Saturday we went to a house party at Fiona and Steve's - they moved to Arlington, are living in a really nice place, and we got to see many friends. Today we took a 3 mile walk around the Charles (and we know it was 3 miles exactly because we bet on how long it was, then clocked it - I lost.) Also Dad has been spending lots of time reading books to Cal like Hop on Pop, playing & tickling him, and finally Cal is even smiling back when he zurburts his tumm. Before now Cal would just look at him shocked.

Wraps & Slings
Before today I only had experience carrying Cal around in my arms or in the Baby Bjorn (pronounced Byorn)- you can see some pics of it below on the blog. Today, a bunch of the new moms got together to learn about slings and wraps. We had a great time trying them on, and Cal went right to sleep, so I assume he was very comfortable. I thought the Baby Bjorn was pricey, but compared to the wrap we are pictured here with, it is merely moderately priced. The wrap I am wearing came from Germany, and is one of the nicest you can buy, and I want one! ;-)

First shots followed by a quiet weekend
Friday Calvin went into the doctors for his first round of immunizations. He took 3 shots, 1 on the left thigh, 2 on the right. He cried briefly, but 10 minutes later was smiling again. Saturday we discovered Stellinas restaurant with the grandparents, and plan to go back again. It was a great meal. Sunday we visited an open house for curiosity sake, read the paper and watched movies.

The Boppy vs. My Brest Friend
Both the Boppy and My Brest Friend are nursing support pillows. The Boppy, cresent shaped, was essential for me when we brought Cal home from the hospital. I used it daily, and I swore by it. Recently, I was introduced to My Brest Friend, which is flat instead of rounded, and includes a back support bar which clips around you, and I changed my mind. The essential pillow you need for bringing home baby is the brest friend, not the boppy. The flat top means that if baby falls asleep while nursing - which happens often - that you can move him to a safe place without waking him. Also, the back support arm means no more new moms hunchback ;-)

Happy 2 Month B-Day Calvin
Calvin is 2 months today! I took Calvin to the Franklin Park Zoo with 5 other new moms and 6 strollers! We stopped for nursing sessions pretty often with all those babies, and we kept crashing into one another as we got distracted looking at the animals. Also, Dan and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary tuesday night. We took Cal out to not your average joes and had a decent meal. Lastly, Cal has been really fussy this week, and I finally rediscovered the swaddle, and wow what a difference!
