Milk crisis

Yesterday was the worst day yet. For some reason I had a very light milk flow. It may have been contributed to my previous stomach bug, or traveling, but I was barely producing a few teaspoons, and Calvin fed for hours straight and was still hungry. My poor baby was cranky, upset, and frustrated, and yet I had nothing more to give him. It was heartbreaking. He couldn't even sleep for a lengthy period because he had an empty tumm. Today I am still working on building up my supply, which is only slightly better. I keep pumping and drinking Mothers Milk tea and water, and am praying for better results.

Calvin goes to Phoenix

We enjoyed our first family vacation in Phoenix, Arizona visiting our dear friends the Brooks family. Calvin did great on the plane rides. The leg down was magic, he slept the whole time. On the way back he was a touch more fussy, but still generally very good. We had an amazing time. We went to three chanukah parties, and enjoyed the latkes and candle lighting. We travelled to Sedona for a day and saw the beautiful dessert and Red Rock mountains and scenery. We played with Calvins wife to be the cutey pie Emma Brooks, who lucky for us just outgrew all her infant toys, so Cal also had use of her swing, bouncy seat, floor mat, and clothes. We visited the Frank Lloyd Wright school of architecture Taliesin West. Dan and I also got the stomach flu the last day, so that was an adventure as well. We hadn't felt that sick in ions - yucko. Poor Dave and Jen, we were the lousy house guests who got sick in their own master bathroom! We really had a fantastic time despite, and look forward to going back. The weather was gorgeous, warm and perfect! It was so nice going out for walks without bundling up, and spending quality family time before we both go back to work.

New mom's holiday party

Yesterday, the new moms group got together for a gift swap. However, something is swimming around the new moms and babies, because several called out sick. Stomach aches, throwing up, fevers, yucko! Apparently, something was shared at Sebastians b-day party besides chocolate cake.
Fiona and Steve joined us for Chinese last night,& Calvin and I went to visit Lucia, Ana-natalia and Bruno today before they go to Ecuador for a month.

Cal falls to sleep on his own!

Three times in a row now. Last night we placed Calvin in the Pack N Play before he was completely asleep. He cried for less than two minutes, sucked on his fingers, and then went out like a light - for about 45 minutes. After he woke up, I fed him again, and then when he got fussy, put him down again before he was asleep. Same thing, but lasted for 3 hours. This morning, I re-tested the waters, and Cal cried for less than a minute this time. He is sleeping in the pack n play right now. The next step will be to get him used to his crib. Making progress though, very exciting!

Sebastians B-Day Party

Calvin attended his friend Sebastians first birthday party yesterday. He fell asleep after 20 minutes or so, but enjoyed watching everyone first. The woman in the red wrap is Carissa. Her son Ellis is 1 week older than Cal. We are good friends. Later when Dad came home Cal was all sorts of excited. Unfortunately, he was also wound up at 5 am this morning - uggg!

Calvins trip to temple

Cal had many firsts - his first visit with the Cohen cousins, his first trip to New York, his first trip to synagogue to see his twin cousins Steffi and Dani become a Bat Mitzvah, & his first black tie event. He was such a good baby, barely a crying peep. At times he was overwhelmed by all the attention, and would bury his face in my wrap to hide or sleep, but for the most part was pretty content. Also, my sister is 22 weeks preggo now, and is showing. What a cute belly!

Long time no post...

Sorry for being a slacker, Cal has been a bit more fusy these days. Lets see, Friday, we got together with a bunch of 'GBHers and their kids for a play group. It was fun to see everyone, and 'GBH will be starting again after New Years, so a great time to reconnect. There was also a serious blizzard going on in Boston - Snow and loud thunder - what a combo. When Dan came home, he shoveled our driveway for over 2 hours - until his arms couldn't lift anymore snow. Saturday we went to the Epsteins for Ana-Natalias B-day party, and Cal cried the whole time. By the time we got home he calmed down, so we went to Julie's cocktail party where he slept the whole time, and I had a vodka drink - WHAT FUN! I hadn't had vodka since before the pregnancy, so what a treat. I was very happy that night ;-) Then Sunday I had a baby wearing meeting, where I learned more wrapping techniques to use with Calvin on my back and on my hip. Jackie came for lunch, and Cynthia joined us for dinner at Harvest. Yumm.

The Class Reunion

Last night we re-joined our no longer preggo friends at Mount Auburn Hospital for our Childbirth Preparation Class Reunion. It was amuzing to see all the babies and even more fun to see our instructor Lori! She was with us for the last 4 hours of Calvin's delivery too, and we feel pretty bonded now. Can't believe I forgot to take a picture, but more to come soon.

Big Weekend

Thursday eve Papa I-I(pronounced E-E) and Mama C-C came to take us all out to dinner. Friday we packed, and Saturday we went down to Grandma's for her big open house party. Cal met so many new people, he was a bit overwhelmed at times, but handled it like a champ. Then Sunday we went to Great Great Uncle Irving and Annette's house to visit. Saba & Softa met us there as well. Irving and Annette hadn't met Calvin yet, so it was a very special visit. On the way back we stopped at the Cracker Barrel restaurant and learned where never to go for dinner again ;-)

The Kitties

When cat-allergic Dan and I got engaged, I had to find a home for my previous babies - 2 part Maine Coon, part Calico 23 pound brothers from the same litter, Oscar and Patrick. My roommate at the time Katie, who already loved them, took them in and the rest was history. Katie recently got in touch to let me know Poor Patrick passed away from a brain tumor. I took Cal to meet his almost bro yesterday. Oscar was double the size of Cal easily, and still just as cute. It was so good to see him.
